Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin came to Azerbaijan to attend the Vugar Hashimov memorial which will be held in Shamkir. The famous chess player went directly from the airport to Alley of Honor for visit grave of Vugar Hashimov. Sergey Karjakin recalled memories about his friend Vugar Hashimov, laid flowers at a statue of our chess player.

According to the press service ShamkirChess 2017 tournament, chess grandmaster then went to the Vugar Hashimov Chess Academy. Meeting there with young chess  players Sergey Karjakin answered children’s questions. Russian representative went to Shamkir to participant in supertorunament in  the second half of the day.

We should note that the solemn opening ceremony of the Shamkirchess2017 tournament organized by Synergy Group and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation will be held tomorrow. The opening ceremony will begin at 18-30  in Heydar Aliyev Center in Shamkir .
