The second round of Vugar Hashimov memorial organized in Shamkir is coming to it’s end. The world champion Veselin Topalov defeated Polish chess player Radoslav Voytasek in today’s meeting.
After meeting Topalov commented on the game:”I got slight advantage after debut. Then taking the necessary steps I put the opponent in a difficult situation.I gained a well-deserved victory. Voytasek could not resist long time. This is my first victory in Shamkir. I hope it is not the last".
Bulgarian world champion praised highly the competition organized by "Synergy Group":”I have been in Baku repeatedly. I have come to Shamkir for the first time. I liked this city very much. I would like to thank to the organizers. Good conditions are created for chess players. Speaking of fight, the most difficult games are ahead".
Tomorrow in the third round, difficult game is waiting for Topalov with Russian player Vladimir Kramnik. The relationship of players, who haven’t talked to each other for a long time, hasn’t improved. Answering the question about it, Topalov said he did not think about reconciliation: " Tomorrow will be an ordinary game. There can be no speaking about special preparation. Every game is interesting in Shamkir. There is no change in my relationship with my opponent in the third round. I do not think about reconciliation".
Polish chess player Radoslav Voytasek called Shamkir tournament a test for his career:”It is not easy to attend in XXI categorygame in Shamkir. For me, this is a test. I’m learning a lot of things in Shamkir. I think my participation in this tournament will affect my future career. I lost control of the party after the 11th move in the game with Topalov. I did not understand what happened. Veselin won with skill”.
