The fifth round have started in ShamkirChess 2017 tournament dedicated to the memory of Vugar Hashimov.In the report round ,Organized by Synergy Group,Azerbaijani chess player Teimour Radjabov drew  with England representative  Michael Adams. After the fifth round organized by Synergy Group, Teimour Radjabov has given an interview to the official  website of  tournament.

-The Fifth round has ended in the shamkirchess 2017  tournament. How do you assess your performance?

-There are 2 points in my account after fifth round. Certainly it is possible to perform better. I think it  is early to speak about the result of the competition.There are 4 rounds ahead. It is better to talk about results in the end. Of course, I want to show as good game as possible in the competition in Shamkir. Sometimes it doesn’t happen.

-Everybody expects the victory from you. We can say that in recent competitions including a tournament in Shamkir you have difficulties. Is it difficult to play under pressure?

-The strong players are gathering in the Vugar HAshimov Memorial. It is not easy to win in competitions with staff like this one. I was defeated in the first meeting with black pieces. Of course, it is difficult to pull yoursekf together after failure . It is impossible to win in every tournament. I understand that everbody expects only success from me . I do not like excuses. I do not feel pressure. It is  very comfortable to participate in Shamkir. All conditions are created  for participants here. The other day, Shahriyar also said that when game goes well in your homeland they say it’s easy to play in home land. When it does not they say it’s hard to fight in your city. All players fighting in  Shamkir  are in high places in the world ranking.  So everyone may have difficulty in  these competitions.

-The last winner  of ShamkirChess 2017 tournament organized by Synergy Group was Azerbaijani chess player Shahriyar Mammadyarov. This year, there is high hope to Shahriyar and Teimour. Do our players have a great chance to win?

- First of all, i thank  Synergy Group for such a great tournament organized in memory of Vugar Gashimov. In this competition always Strongest players participate. Excellent conditions have been created by the organizers to all guests.Chess tournament holds a special place in the calendar of the world  chess calendar. Such events also increase the interest to chess in the country.Speaking of your question, when Azerbaijani chess players play well the chances of victory increase.Each game is taken into account when we participate in national team. But in Tournament ,individual games are important. Last year I was very happy for the  victory of Shahriyar Mammadyarov. In 2016,he was at the highest level in  the last round of the tournament . InTiebreaker he won an important victory over Fabiano Caruana. We are trying also this year. When  local players win in native arena it is good for both  fans and organizers.

- Wesley Co and Vladimir Kramnik are the favorite of The rating. In your opinion who is the leading candidate to win the tournament in Shamkir?

- Before the tournament discussions are generally led according to ratings. Wesley So and Vladimir Kramnik are ,the first and second players for FIDE rating. If we take rating into consideration, Kramnik and  So can be considered the main favorites.But every player invited to Shamkir has power to win. So began the game with lose. There are a lot of unexpected results. It is difficult to talk about result.

- Everyone is interested in which  coaches you work with now.. Most of the time you keep the names in secret...

- Since my childhood my father was with me. My father Still helps me. I have never hidden my coach. They hide the names of the assistant when they fight for the world chess crown . this is not necessary in real life. A few years ago I have worked  with Çuçelov. We went together to All the tournaments. Now i do not have specific coach. I have a sparring partner. Like all players, i also sometimes  use a computer.

-What tournaments are you interested to take part in after Shamkir?

- At the moment, the main attention was directed to the FIDE Grand Prix. Because to win tickets to the tournament of contenders you need to perform well at the Grand Prix. I participated in many prestigious competitions throughout my career. Since I was 12 years old I fought in various tournaments. So far I have won at the World Cup, European championships, super-tournaments. My main goal is to join the fight for the world chess crown. I want to play for the world title.

-Main target of Teimur Radjabov is to bring chess crown to Azerbaijan. This claim hasn’t been sounded for several years. So your opinion hasn’t changed.

-We didn’t talk about it at certain time. Because It was difficult period for me in chess.my game wasn’t working. That time has been left behind. My main goal - to play against the world champion. I didn’t  participate in the super tournaments in difficult period. Now i want to join the fight of contenders in the grand Prix. New stage is beginning in career of player after being a World chess champion. I believe that one day I will realize my dream. Magnus Carlsen is only thinking about  how todefend his title after he  became the champion.

- The majority said that now is his time in chess. Is it really hard to stop Magnus Carlsen?

-I do not agree that Magnus is invincible. I have attended many competitions with him. Many times i have fought against him. Take into account that Carlsen hasn’t been a leader for very long. 2-3 years ago he was considered as the sole leader in all competitions. But now it is not so. He is the World champion, but he has many strong rivals.

- Shamkir tournament is dedicated to the memory of Vugar Hashimov. What memories can you share with us about Vugar?

- I have only good memories about Vugar. Tournament dedicated to memory of him is organized at a high level. Shamkir tournament is still one of the most spectacular events i attended. Every year we are united again in the name of Vugar. Today i would like him to be among the participants. It would be nice if Vugar would be among participants in tournament.

- In 2016, Baku hosted the World Chess Olympiad. Competition was called the best in the history of the olympic games and praised by FIDE. Unfortunately, the Azerbaijani team did not please us. What was the reason for failure of the national team?

-Organizing was at high level. But our results were not good. . 8 months have passed from Olympiad.. Now we can talk about it. All players should be in top form for the success of the team. Some of our players did not perform well enough during the olympiad. During Some games my and Arkady Naydich’s games didn’t work. For winning as a team All the board needs a good result. Azerbaijani team won the gold medal twice at the European championships. We don’t have  medal in olympiad. To compete in Baku is  big responsibility . We all wanted to get results. Unfortunately it didn’t work out. We have a friendly team. In future we have many chances to get  success in Olympiad.

- There are a lot of teenagers who wants learn  a lot from Teimour Radjabov. Didn’y you think about opening your own chess academy or school in the future?

- Meeting with the youth, sharing your experience is very interesting. The different sessions can be held at the school. Children are influenced in a good way by meeting with experienced grandmasters. Currently there’re no plans like that. If it happens I’d like to be there myself. It’s wrong to establish a chess academy or school and show up there only one two tomes a year. In that case the commefcial purposes are considered main ones. Currently I have concentrated all my attention on my career. There’s no such plan. Doubtlessly, I would want a good school preparing great chess players to Azerbaijani national team to exist. It’d be possible to regularly organize meetings and sessions there. For example I still remember my participation in Victor Korchnoy’s session when I was at young age. That’s why it’s a great idea to create those conditions to children. But I don’t have any plans concerning it.

- You have a daughter named Maryam. Is your child  interested in chess?

- My daughter is little. At the moment it is too early to talk about it. Of course she knows the figures. Knows the sequence of figures. The child certainly knows the game of chess in the family. I do not put pressure on my daughter. Still small. Time will tell what level of interest in chess in the future. She Knows the sequence of figures.
